Mate Act
As of June 27, 2023, the Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act imposes a new one-time, eight-hour training requirement for all Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registered practitioners on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders prior to receiving or renewing a DEA registration. According to the MATE Act, dentists can access approved online training for the required opioid management training through providers such providers as:
- American Dental Association (ADA)
- The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS)
- Organizations accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
At this time, Bala Institute of Oral Surgery does not offer courses to fulfill the MATE Act.
